Welcome to Hurufi Art
Hurufi Art is an artistic project that aims to visualise traditional Arabic text with minimalism and design aesthetics.
The artist uses metal sculptures and acrylic on Canvas to break down Quranic text and Sufi philosophy beyond the written text, and enable a visual experience for the viewer.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Prof Ghazanfar Zaidi has been an artist and an educator with over five decades of practice. He retired from New Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia University as the Founding Dean of the Fine Arts Faculty. As an artist, he has a diversified portfolio ranging from Wildlife Photography to Design and Calligraphy. With Hurufi Art, Zaidi has tried to marry his minimalist design aesthetics with Arabic letters, and in the process
re-imaging traditional calligraphy.
